Jane Hirshfield's most recent, tenth book of poetry is The Asking: New & Selected Poems* (Knopf, 2023). Other books include the now-classic Nine Gates: Entering the Mind of Poetry and Ten Windows: How Great Poems Transform the World. Considered one of the foremost voices in American poetry, she was lay-ordained in Soto Zen in 1979, and elected into the American Academy of Arts & Sciences in 2019. Her poems have been translated into over fifteen languages and appear in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The New York Times, Poetry, and ten editions of The Best American Poems.
