Description

Nurturing and manifesting a body-mind of equanimity and resilience.

This five-day Iyengar Yoga and Zen meditation retreat will focus on ways to create and sustain our inner equilibrium despite the swirling collective anxiety and suffering all around us. As we practice our asanas and meditation and listen intently to Zen teachings, we will attempt to touch the greater importance of our spiritual reality over our physical one. In this way, we grow more able to witness fear and suffering━our own and others’━without becoming overwhelmed, anxious, or despairing.

Curiously, by going more thoroughly into our bodily sensations, by quieting our ever-chattering thoughts, and by staying close to the breath, we can sense the unity of mind and body. The dichotomy of self and other may even dissolve. From this stance, we can then consider our own intra- and inter-personal conflicts and engage in Svadyaya (self-study) to increase our awareness of the fundamental intimacy and oneness of all being. This ultimately enables us to meet ourselves and others━and even these “heavy” times━with more compassion, grace, and spaciousness.
