Description

Join Insight Santa Cruz Guiding Teacher Dawn Neal, City Center Abiding Abbot Dōshin Mako Voelkel, and the Tassajara residential community for a 5-day practice retreat. In our time together, we will explore the transformative qualities of the Perfections, including generosity, ethical comportment, patience, energy, wisdom, and others. These virtues guide us in cultivating ease, purpose, and happiness in our relationship with ourselves, others, and the world. They can support anyone to become more alive and grounded

We will explore the transformative practices of the Perfections through both Zen and Insight Meditation perspectives, discovering how they support a joyful and meaningful life.

The daily schedule includes early morning zazen with Tassajara’s residential community, and mindful meals together. Participants will have free time for study, small group meetings, work practice with Tassajara’s residents, or simply enjoying the natural beauty of Tassajara. Each afternoon there will be a class in the retreat hall blending guided meditation, Dharma teachings, and interactive exploration. Evenings will feature zazen or Dharma talks, and participants will have the opportunity for private interviews with the guiding teachers.

This retreat provides a supportive environment to deepen your understanding of the Perfections, integrating them into your everyday life and spiritual practice. It is open to those with all levels of practice experience.
