What can we learn from being fully present in every moment with all our senses? How can we cultivate awareness? And how might poetry and our relationship with gardens help us in cultivating presence? In this workshop, we will turn our attention to the nonhuman world: the soil, the earthworm, the fava bean.

We will ask ourselves how to "dialogue with." For example: How might awareness of the lifeforms around us change us? How does both Zen practice, and a practice in poetry, help us explore this awareness fully?

We will listen to a Dharma talk about waking our senses, and then use the art of writing poems to drop into ourselves and write our way into the greater ecosystem.

Both the workshop and the reading are open to all writers (and the curious). We invite you to come to both for an immersive and expansive time.
