Join as we honor our ancestors and the turning of the seasons.
This morning offering from the SFZC Family Program is inspired by the Soto Zen ceremony known as Sejiki, and is a time for honoring those who have died.
Traditionally, Sejiki is a ceremony held in the fall for remembering the deceased and offering food and incense for their nurturance.
In our adapted, family-friendly version of Sejiki, we will honor our ancestors and loved ones and extend this practice to include our beloved pets and animals who have passed away, offering treats and small gifts as a way of remembering them.
Together, through shared stories, creative projects, and movement, we will hold grief as a community, while making time to honor the fall season and receive the Dharma as it is revealed through the land.
