Description

Three Thursdays, March 5, 12, 19, 7:30 – 9 pm

In the dining room

Over 750 years ago Zen Master Eihei Dogen wrote about the importance of being awake and aware in our work. This class will focus on his teachings, and how a life that integrates Zen practice and work practice helps to create clarity and joy in our daily activities.

In the classic text Tenzokyokan: Instructions to the Head Cook, Dogen teaches that the head cook should aspire to work with three minds: Joyful Mind, Accepting Mind, and Great Mind. We are all the “head cook” in whatever our work may be. We’ll explore how these teachings and practices can be utilized and integrated in our daily life, work, and Zen practice.

The class will include film clips that illustrate some of the principles that can inform our actions and support our intentions.
