Description

In the Conference Center at 308 Page Street.

In Japanese culture, the character Kokoro is used to signify not only the heart, but also the mind, for their connection is one. San Francisco Zen Center welcomes Butoh dancers Guyphytsy Aldalai and Eric Larsen in their explorations of dancing the Heart Mind.

Guyphytsy Aldalai presents Pliegues del Tiempo (Creases of Time)

Pliegues del Tiempo (Creases of Time) is an interdisciplinary Butoh dance performance that explores the fragility of perception and memory. Inspired by experiences of psychotic crises and a suicide attempt, the piece translates these lived moments into textures, movements, and immersive atmospheres, creating a space for reflection on mental health.

Through the concept of the "fold," the piece interweaves body and space in a structure of tension and balance. The choreography evokes trembling, lethargy, and dissociation, while a portable scenographic device inspired by origami transforms alongside the dance, reflecting emotional instability. Pliegues del Tiempo (Creases of Time) is an invitation to feel, question, and bring visibility to the intangible landscapes of the mind.
