Description

In the Dining Room, 7:30 – 9 pm

A central theme of Buddhism, throughout its development over the centuries, has been the practice of realizing enlightenment or awakening. From the teachings of the early Suttas to those of the Zen school, the exploration of healing suffering and enabling a joyous heart/mind has given rise to a variety of practices and understandings.

In this class we will both study some of the central themes that have continued through the main insight schools of Buddhism and bring them into our daily practice of zazen and mindfulness.

The weekly class will be coordinated with the other practice offerings at City Center to support the class participants to sustain their practice. These offerings will include zazen instruction, weekly half-day sittings, half-day workshops on the details of seated zazen, and the opportunity to discuss your practice with a teacher.

This range of offerings is designed to accommodate the needs of both beginners and more experienced practitioners.
