6 months experience in meditation and/or yoga recommended
Find inner readiness for the coming year through steady, rhythmic practice of Iyengar yoga and Soto Zen forms emphasizing nourishment and integration of body, breath, mind and intellect.
Shunryu Suzuki Roshi taught, "It is the readiness of the mind that is wisdom." In practical terms, how can we cultivate an unshakeable readiness of mind that is flexible enough to adapt to the ever-changing demands of our lives? In both the disciplines of Iyengar yoga and Soto Zen, the practitioner develops elasticity in the diaphragm so that stress and strain is readily absorbed and settled. The mind clears, and one is free to enjoy life.
In this four-day retreat, we will focus on developing slow, effortless breathing in seated meditation, pranayama, and asana practice. Our aim is to build sources of renewed vigor, calm, and tranquility that will decrease stress and cultivate calm abiding in the midst of the challenges and transformations of our lives.
