Come enjoy the changing seasons and the company of dedicated volunteers in caring for our beautiful watershed!

This fall and winter will be planting time at the Green Gulch Creek restoration site in the lower fields. Prunuske Chatham, Inc., has finished recreating a beautiful meander in the creek, complete with large woody debris, willow mattresses, gravels, rock work and erosion control matting. A beautiful new wooden bridge has also been installed which will allow the creek to rise and to move laterally. (More info on Creek Restoration)

We invite all of you wonderful volunteers to begin putting in the plants which will complete this beautiful picture. We will start with planting willow and creek dogwood stakes at the November 9 Watershed Work Party. We will finish with alder trees in February when we celebrate Arbor Day.

We have about 4,000 plants all together to plant—grasses and reeds, perennials, shrubs and trees. Our planting times will be determined in part by rainfall. We want to be sure the soil is truly moist to receive the roots of these plants. The plants we are using come to us via the nursery at Muir Woods, which means they are all propagated from very local seed, and the plants will be well adapted to the particular microclimate of the valley.

All are welcome to participate. Please dress with foot gear that can get moist or muddy.
