The qualities we admire in awakened beings (bodhisattvas) of the past and present can inform and enliven our lives. Compassion, wisdom, focused activity and great vow—these qualities can encourage us to deepen our intention to live meaningful lives. In this class we will study Pema Chodron’s No Time to Lose, a commentary on Shantideva’s The Way of the Bodhisattva, and Taigen Dan Leighton’s Faces of Compassion: Classic Bodhisattva Archetypes and their Modern Expression. Through individual reflection and discussion we will relate these teachings to living fully and beneficially in today’s precious and challenging world.
