Motherhood calls us to practice each day, encouraging us to cultivate generosity, discipline, patience, wholehearted effort and wisdom. If we're lucky, we can even squeeze a little meditation in there. Being a mother is a joyful invitation to manifest our vow to live and be lived for the benefit of all beings. But that's on a good day. We can also be painfully aware of the ways in which we fall short, of dark places that may echo difficulties in our own childhood, of being in unfamiliar territory.
How can we care for others without depleting our own resources?
How do we balance work, relationships, practice and motherhood?
How do we, with awareness and compassion, integrate what we learned in our family of origin into our own parenting?
In this retreat, we will reflect on the daily practice of motherhood, with all that that includes. We will be writing personal narratives and engage in short periods of sitting and walking meditation, talk and discussion.
Please dress comfortably and bring writing materials and a bag lunch.
Fees: $80; $72 current SFZC members; $64 limited income.
