Practicing with Intention: Making a Difference in the World
led by Anshin Rosalie Curtis
May 5 - June 13, 2015
Commuter and residential options available
(Online option not offered at this time)
Right Intention is the second element of Buddha’s Noble Eightfold Path, after Right View and before Right Speech and Right Action. Intention is the crucial link between our view of reality and our activity in the world. Our activity changes the world, our lives and the lives of everyone around us.
When our intention is aligned with our inmost request, it naturally becomes a vow to benefit all beings. We live from that vow, which is our creative wish for wisdom and compassion to manifest in the world. Otherwise we just live out our karma, both individual and collective. With each other’s support, we will explore how to bring our deepest intention into our activity in a way that nourishes all existence.
Everyone is welcome, and our study and practice will be appropriate for people with various lifestyles and at all levels of practice.
The practice period begins with arrival of new residents on Monday, May 4, and an opening ceremony at 6:30 am on Tuesday, May 5. A one-day sitting occurs on Saturday, May 9, and the practice period concludes with a three-day sesshin, June 11-13.
