“In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities...”
This year we celebrate 50 years of beginner’s mind, 50 years of possibility, 50 years of exploring ways to embody and express Suzuki Roshi’s teachings, and 50 years of offering the transformative power of Zen to the world.
From strong roots developed through the core practice of zazen—and the commitment and support of people like you—the wisdom, compassion, and creativity of our Zen practice has manifested in many vital ways.
Training Zen Teachers
Supported by the life changing experience of monastic training, and an immersion in a living lineage of Zen, our teachers offer a compassionate and creative response to the world.
Sustaining Places of Refuge
Tassajara, City Center, and Green Gulch Farm, each with its unique character and practice offerings, are communities open to anyone who wants to slow down and experience the stillness that is the foundation of insight.
Bringing Practice to the Wider World
Our vow — to live a life based on wisdom and compassion, to live lightly on the land with all beings, and to be of service to the world — has guided us as we create innovative programs to meet the needs of doctors, lawyers, scientists, teachers, artists, politicians, revolutionaries, returning veterans, families and children, people in recovery, and change agents of all varieties.
This alternative model of kindness, clarity, and insight that Zen practice has to offer is all the more important now. And that is way I am asking for your financial support.
If you have been inspired by the transformative power of Zen practice, and experienced its positive impact on your own life, then please consider contributing to our Spring fundraising drive so that you and others may continue to be nourished.
Imagine the benefits of a world with more Zen. Imagine more wisdom, compassion, and clarity in the world and please help us make it happen.
On behalf of the teachers and residents of Zen Center, I extend our deep gratitude for your continued support.

P.S. In honor of our 50th anniversary, we are raising $50,000 this Spring. Please consider a donation of $50 for the first 50 years, $100 for the next 100 years, or $500 for the next 500 years!
