Living Zen: Off the Cushion and Into Your Life, 7/14 – 7/19
with Lee Klinger Lesser
July 14 – 19, 2019 (Sunday – Friday)
Alan Watts called the practice of Sensory Awareness, “Living Zen”
Our sensations are allies that bring us into direct connection with the freshness of each moment. Our terrain of exploration is the simple activities of daily life: sitting, walking, standing, lying down, eating, working, connecting with another person–discerning between the energy that is needed to fulfill a task, and the extra effort that creates strain and constriction. Charlotte Selver, the founder of Sensory Awareness in the U.S., was the first person invited by Suzuki Roshi to teach at Tassajara. The practices to which they devoted their lives were aligned and enriching of each other. We will continue this practice together.
