A study week at Tassajara provides the opportunity to explore Zen teachings, meditation and work practice with the guidance of a teacher. In the morning, participants join the residential community for meditation, breakfast, work practice and lunch.
Afternoons and evening include free time, group study, and individual meetings with the teacher. Dinner is in the guest dining room.
This summer we will study Zenju Earthlyn Manuel’s recently published book, The Way of Tenderness, Awakening through Race, Sexuality and Gender
. This text, written by a Bay Area African-American lesbian Zen teacher, explores practicing with difference based in our unique bodies, which may be feared or hated by others. It points the way to embracing our identities with tenderness, enabling us to open our hearts to ourselves and others.
The rate is $70 per day for shared accommodations. Visit sfzc.org/tassajara for more information, or for reservations, call toll-free 1-888-743-9362.
