Thursday, September 24, 2015 @ 6:30 am Pacific:

The fire is now 94% contained, and road closures that were in place are expected to be lifted at 1 pm today.

Wednesday, September 23, 2015 @ 7:00 am Pacific:

Cal Fire reports that the fire is 81% contained this morning (the active portion is at a safe distance from Tassajara). However, various road closures remain in effect in the area.  We are fortunate that Tassajara people and property are all safe and well as life continues in the valley. Sadly, the residents of Carmel Valley have suffered great losses with 12 houses destroyed. We continue holding them in our thoughts at this time.

Sunday, September 20, 2015:

We will be posting updates on the #TassajaraFire (near Jamesburg) also to the Tassajara Facebook Page.

@ 8:00 pm Pacific:

Quick update from Jamesburg fire crews. The fire is now 30% contained. Tassajara is not in any danger, and everyone is safe at both Jamesburg and Tassajara.

The road into Tassajara is still closed until further notice.

Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes, and deep appreciation to the fire crews who are working so hard on these fires.

@ 8:50 am Pacific:

Another update from our President Susan O'Connell who is in the area:

Tassajara staff are planning at around 9:00 on taking out the work period guests who were scheduled to leave today. The road, as far as we know, is passable - but they are only letting people out - not in.

The fire crew dug trenches around the Jamesburg property. The sherrif told me that he thought that the fire went east last night. There will be an update soon. There is not so much smoke in the air, and I saw no flames at the Chagagua Road exit off of Carmel Valley Rd.

With bows and thanks for all your good wishes Susan

@ 8:31 am Pacific:

Everyone at Jamesburg and Tassajara is safe. Fire crew working in the area since dawn. The road to and from Tassajara is closed for now. Keeping everyone in our prayers and chanting Enmei Jukko Kannon Gyo. With bows for all your good wishes.

from Tassajara this morning...

The following is an edited-version (to remove names) of a letter sent from Tassajara this morning.

Dear all,
Good news!  The Jamesburg well pump running.

A caravan has now left Tassajara with twenty people in nine vehiclesThey left within five minutes of each other, with the sedans in front, so they may all arrive close together as per instructions.  With them is another load of food and supplies for our crew. There are 44 people remaining at Tassajara.

Additionally, six people from the trail crew left in five vehicles, but they are stopping at Lime Point to retrieve their tools from on the trail, so will be at least an hour behind.

I trust they will make their way safely out.

Staff at Tassajara is trying to contact people due to come in today. Hopefully that job can be taken over by someone outside here for the future days.

Work and schedule proceeding as best we can.
