Releasing the Habit of Fear: An Exploration in Zen, Yoga, and the Alexander Technique, GGF 5/25 – 5/28
With Kristen Davis and Shokuchi Deirdre Carrigan
in Still Water Hall at Green Gulch Farm
Friday, May 25, 4 pm – Monday, May 28, 11 am
The three practices of Zen, Yoga, and Alexander Technique share in common the wish to end suffering that is due to habits of separation. In this three day retreat, we will explore in zazen (seated meditation), in yogasana (yoga postures), and through the principles of Alexander Technique, how the body-mind gets stuck in a fear response, creating tension and anxiety, and how we can find the expansive awareness that allows the body and mind to open to other possibilities for a life lived fully from a place of openness and ease. This retreat is appropriate for all levels of practitioner in any of the three practices.
Fees: $275; $247 current SFZC members; $220 limited income.
- Please note that the retreat fee does not include accommodations. For overnight accommodations and three meals per full day, please call the Green Gulch office at 415-383-3134.
- Some partial scholarships available.
- No commuter registrations will be accepted until the guest accommodations are full. Commuters may sign up to be on a waiting list and, if space is open, would add $15 per meal to the retreat fee.
