Discover how zazen and Aikido work together to enhance our ability to find our center, overcome internal barriers, and creatively engage with life as it is.

Aikido training helps us unify our mind, body and spirit in our center, and connect with others from that unified whole. When done together, Zazen and Aikido practices can blend, rub, spark, inspire and reinforce each other in subtle and far-reaching ways. In this workshop we will apply basic Aikido practices to learn two profoundly useful life skills: (1) unifying our whole being to touch and be touched by others; and (2) how to fall safely. We will also practice basic Aikido sword movements to learn stance, centering, and body alignment. Designed for Aikido beginners, the practice will be gentle - the movements will involve the whole body and may be moderately aerobic.
Fee: $90; $81 current SFZC members; $72 limited income. Some partial scholarships available; see About Registration, Scholarships and Cancellations. A delicious organic vegetarian lunch in the Green Gulch dining room is included.
