Sessei Meg Levie has lived and practiced at San Francisco Zen Center since 1994 and received ordination as a Zen priest in 2003. She practiced monastically at Tassajara Zen Mountain Center for a number of years and also has studied Buddhism in Thailand and Japan. After 15 years of residential practice at Zen Center, she felt called to find ways to work and practice in the wider world. She is a certified professional coach through New Ventures West in San Francisco and now works with business executives who feel called to integrate their professional goals with their spiritual ideals and practice. She leads mindfulness trainings and retreats in corporate and educational settings and serves as the Director of Communications for the Global Academy, a foundation created to support the development of leadership capacity through integrating personal development with organizational and societal transformation. She also serves as the teacher for the Bolinas branch of the
Mountain Source Sangha. She received her BA degree in English from Stanford University and an MA, also in English, from the University of Texas at Austin. Before encountering Zen, she worked in the publishing industry in New York and Tokyo. Currently she lives at Green Gulch with her husband, Jeremy, and their daughter, Elizabeth.
