Note: Those who have participated in one or more of the following workshops are invited to participate in this class: Transforming Depression and Anxiety; Finding Ease; Freedom with Our Inner Critic; or Cultivating Resilience. Attendance at one of these workshops is a prerequisite for participation in this class. Please see a list of upcoming qualifying workshops at SFZC at the bottom of this page.
These 1½-hour drop-in practice classes are offered to those who are interested in fine-tuning the practices introduced in the basic skills workshops taught throughout the year at SFZC and at other venues.
The class begins and ends with meditation and includes time for discussion about how our practice is going. Different from a therapy group, San Francisco Zen Center is offering these drop-in classes with the intention to encourage the development of the mindfulness and compassion practices taught in the workshop framework and offers support for examining the links of conditioned patterns and our relationship to them.
Fundamentally, we agree that mindfulness practice provides an effective way to alleviate afflictive emotions and thoughts and that structuring the classes accordingly offers the most support.
Sliding scale fee: $15 – $20. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Fees will be collected at the class. (See note above for prerequisite.)
