Bringing Down the Walls that Separate Us: Practicing with the Precepts (Class), CC 1/29 – 3/12

Led by Jisan Tova Green

Seven Mondays, January 29 – March 12, 7:30 – 9 pm

“Observation of precepts and the practice of zazen is the same thing—not different, [just] as our everyday life practice and our zazen practice is one.” —Suzuki Roshi

The precepts are guideposts. Practiced with compassion, they can bring us closer to our aspirations to be awake and to live in harmony with ourselves and others. The precepts help us see how our thoughts, words and actions affect others, revealing the dance of cause and effect. We will study the 16 precepts we practice with at San Francisco Zen Center, applying them to our daily lives. The class will include reading, reflective writing, and small and large group discussion, as well as presentations by the teacher.

Fees: $140; $126 current SFZC members; $84 limited income. Some partial scholarships available.
