Community Service – Reaching Out with the Heart and Body of Practice, CC 10/16 – 11/20

With Jeffrey Schneider and Kiku Christina Lehnherr
Six Wednesdays, October 16, 23, 30, November 6, 13, 20, 6 – 8:45 am

As part of this practice period, we invite participants to join with the practice period leader Kiku Christina Lehnherr and outreach and volunteer coordinator Jeffrey Schneider in offering breakfast to homeless women and men on six Wednesday mornings.

Volunteers will leave Beginner's Mind Temple/City Center after the first period of zazen and return in time for work meeting at 9 am. Breakfast will be served at St. John’s Episcopal Church in the Mission, a partner in the The Gubbio Project.

To serve the homeless community well and to support a deeper experience than just a one-time-novelty, the number of volunteers will be limited to seven for each breakfast and we encourage participants to sign up for three or more of the days.

Additional help with shopping and food preparation the day before will also be needed.

You may volunteer for three or more of the days.

Please contact Outreach Coordinator Jeffrey Schneider for more information by emailing him at [email protected] or leaving a message in the front office, in person or call 415-863-3136.
