Writing and Mindfulness: A Meditation and Writing Retreat, CC 9/22

With Arlene Lueck and Josan Janis Cooke Newman
In the Buddha Hall

  Sunday, September 22, 10 am – 4 pm

How mindfulness meditation can help you access your creativity and make you a more skillful writer.

This day-long combination writing workshop and meditation retreat invites writers and meditators of all levels to delve deeply into both practices. The retreat’s guided meditations are designed to feed your writing, helping you to be more present to experience, connect with the body, and access emotion and empathy—all important writing skills. You’ll find the workshop’s prompted bursts of free writing especially useful for tapping your creative energy, bypassing your internal judge, and encouraging your most original and riskiest writing. The feedback sessions provide a safe, supportive—and fun—time to share your work. Participants will come away with the tools to develop a consistent daily meditation and writing practice.
