The Body-Breath-Mind of Zazen, CC 9/30
Led by Ryushin Paul Haller
in the Buddha Hall at City Center
Introductory Half-day Workshop
Saturday, September 30, 1 – 4 pm
Zazen—the practice of experiencing what’s happening in the moment—is both simple and profoundly challenging to sustain. Within the Zen tradition there are ways of relating to the body, the breath and the mind that help evoke the simple openness and the constancy of engagement of seated zazen. And there are ways to help bring zazen mind to the activities of daily life.
This workshop will describe in detail these traditional zazen techniques of body, breath, and mind. Accompanying each description, there will be the opportunity to practice them and ask questions. There will also be time to discuss how to establish a regular zazen practice.
This workshop is intended to complement a six-week evening class, The Path of Practice, offered Mondays, 7:30 – 9 pm, October 9 – November 13, designed to help sustain and further clarify the prescribed body and mind practices. Separate registration is required for the class.
