Presence & Sexuality: Embodying Responsible Sexuality
Wednesday, August 8, 7:30 – 9 pm
City Center Dining Room

What is it to be upright and awake in the midst of sexual energy? How do we not turn away from ourselves or our experience in the present? How can we learn to understand and relate to desire in healthy and respectful ways?

The workshop’s format will include small group discussions, meditations, and open dialogue. Join us in co-creating a “brave space” to explore how to be with our own sense of sexuality and vow as we practice from an upright and settled container. Are we using our sexual energies or are they using us?

Power & Sexuality: Enacting Responsible Sexuality
Wednesday, August 15, 7:30 – 9 pm
City Center Dining Room

With the container established from the first workshop,* we will explore the question of how do we enact our vow within our complex relationships with others and in community? Are we using our energies or are they using us?

How can we find applications from our lineage and institutional teachings, such as the “Standards of Pure Conduct” (in Japanese, “shingi”) and Sexual Ethics Statement, that will support our everyday interactions and relationships? In the midst of complex hierarchies and power dynamics we face in our work and intimate environments, how can we enact healthy and responsible responses?

Join us as we explore what it means to practice while maintaining a healthy, upright, and embodied relationship to our sexuality.

*You are encouraged to attend the August 8 workshop but it’s not necessary.
