Upright and Complete: Practicing with Noble Speech (Class), CC 5/9 – 6/6
Led by Eijun Linda Cutts
May 9 – June 6
Five Tuesdays, 7:30 – 9 pm
The Buddha gave many teachings on the practice of Upright Speech as did other teachers of the Dharma. Our speech, as one of the three kinds of action or karma, is powerful and inescapable in our daily lives. Many of our Bodhisattva precepts are pointing to the awareness required regarding our speech. Especially at this time in our lives, when the issues of truth, harsh language, and hollow talk are so important, and the realization of the crucial role we each have to express ourselves skillfully, we will take up the study of these teachings of the eight-fold path, upright speech. We will also practice the essential art of listening, and reflect on the importance of silence as expression.
Appropriate for both beginners and experienced practitioners.
