Radical Acceptance (class), CC 1/31 – 3/14
With Laura Burges
in the City Center dining room
The Buddha taught that much of our self-created suffering stems from our deeply embedded wish for things to be otherwise. In this class we will explore Tara Brach's book Radical Acceptance. We will look into ways in which we may unwittingly constrict our lives with self-judgment, addiction, perfectionism and overwork. How do we loosen these ties and find joy in accepting life on life's terms? While Brach's book will be a centerpiece of our study, we will also investigate other texts and Zen teachings and engage in personal projects that will help enliven these teachings in our everyday lives.
