Dogs, Dragons, and Pebbles: The Koan Literature as a Guidebook (Class), CC 1/31 – 3/14

Led by Anshi Zachary Smith
In the City Center Dining Room

  Seven Thursdays, January 31 – March 14, 7:30 – 9 pm

There are many ways to view the classical koan literature and koans in general, but perhaps the most fruitful is as a rich, multi-faceted answer to the question, “What does it actually mean to practice together in this Way?” We’ll be exploring the koan literature—mostly the Blue Cliff Record—from this perspective and looking at the ways in which these ancient stories remain fresh and relevant to present-day practice.
