During this one-day sitting we will create a safe space to be together and to acknowledge the difficulties we experience both as individuals and as a community, as well as the ways we thrive. We will explore the many meanings of "taking refuge in Buddha, Dharma and Sangha." The day will include sitting and walking meditation, a Dharma talk and discussion, movement, chanting, and tea. We hope you will leave at the end of the day with a heightened sense of affinity and community with other queer meditators and a renewed appreciation for your own presence in the world.
Lunch is not available on Sundays at City Center. We welcome you to bring a vegetarian lunch into our dining room or the courtyard during the break. And there are several restaurants within a few blocks of City Center. Fees:

Jisan Tova Green
Jisan Tova Green, LCSW, is a resident practice leader at City Center. She currently serves as director of development for San Francisco Zen Center, and she also served recently as vice president and as City Center director. The co-founder of Zen Center's Queer Dharma Group, she received priest ordination from Eijun Linda Cutts in 2003. Tova received her MSW from Smith College School for Social Work and completed Smith's certificate program in Contemplative Social Work in 2008. Tova was a social worker at Hospice by the Bay until April 2011.
Kanzan David Zimmerman
Kanzan David Zimmerman has been practicing Zen for 20 years and was ordained by Rev. Teah Strozer in 2006. Having spent eight years at Tassajara, where he held a number of positions including guest manager, meditation hall manager and director, he now lives at City Center where he is Program Director. He supports Dr. Lee Lipp with classes and workshops on "Transforming Depression and Anxiety."
