This class builds on the Dharma talk
given by Tova and Valorie on April 20th, 2013, and on responses to a survey sent out this spring. In the class we will explore four topics related to aging:
1. Connection or lack of it
2. Letting go and exploring what’s new
3. Changing bodies and minds
4. Living with dying
Each class will include presentations and discussion in small or large groups. We will create a shared list of readings and other resources. You are invited to sign up for and browse the web forum ("Good Old Zen
"), and add thoughts, suggestions, pictures, books or other resources on aging that you've found helpful. What comes next with “Good Old Zen” will emerge from this class and from suggestions we receive. Fee:

Jisan Tova Green
Jisan Tova Green, LCSW, currently serves on the Board of Directors as Vice President of San Francisco Zen Center. Previously she held positions as City Center Director and as a hospice social worker. A practice leader at San Francisco Zen Center, Tova co-founded Zen Center's Queer Dharma Group.
Kyosho Valorie Beer
Kyosho Valorie Beer has practiced Zen Buddhism since 1991. She was ordained as a priest in 2005 and received dharma transmission in 2013 from her teacher, Edward Brown. She is now temporarily supporting a Branching Streams sangha in New Rochelle, NY. At SFZC, Valorie is a practice leader and a teacher for Sewing Buddha's Robe; has also taught sutra copying, practicing with aging, and writing as a spiritual practice; and has led retreats at SFZC-affiliated sanghas.
