Receiving Buddhist wisdom moment by moment, each student takes it in as the flow of brush over paper. This class in the practice of shakyo supports students to encounter the teaching by making a copy of a text using brush and ink. The class will also include a brief discussion of the history of sacred writing in Asia.

Everyone is welcome, whether beginner or experienced. Participants may choose from one of several sutras in English, kanji (Sino-Japanese characters), Spanish or Korean. Please bring a size 0 watercolor brush, black sumi ink, and ink stone if you have them. Tracing paper and other basic materials will be provided.

Fees: $35, $31 current SFZC members, $28 limited income. Some scholarships are available. No one turned away for lack of funds. (About Registration, Scholarships and Cancellations.)
