The theme of the Practice Period is “Dharma Friendship.” This class poses the question: What is the practice of being a dharma friend? In this six-week class, we will study Dogen’s essays, “Only Buddha and Buddha (Yuibutsu Yobutsu)”
and “Bodhisattva’s Four Methods of Guidance (Bodaisatta Shisho-ho)”
as sources for understanding and practicing the deep meaning of dharma friendship. This study will help you to develop your capacity for engaging in the practice of sangha as the matrix of enlightenment. This class itself manifests open-hearted way and everyone is welcome.

Myogen Steve Stücky (Central Abbot)
Myogen Steve Stücky has been practicing Zen since 1971 with various teachers including Richard Baker, Dainin Katagiri, Robert Aitken, and Tenshin Anderson. He received Dharma Transmission from Sojun Mel Weitsman in 1993. He became co-Abbot of the San Francisco Zen Center in February 2007 and in 2010 became Central Abbot as a part of restructuring the abbacy.
