Enter into the ancient sound of our voices, drums, bells, and other percussion instruments. Arouse deep compassion, love and wisdom by aligning with the pulse of our hearts.

An environment will be created to use drums, bells, and other percussion instruments to reveal buddha nature. We will sit in silent meditation between each rhythm session. There will be chanting to bring the voice into the experience. This is an opportunity to begin or further a dharma practice with the use of sound and rhythm. No experience in drumming, chanting, or meditation is needed. All that is needed is a beginner's mind and an open heart. If you have a drum or percussion instrument of any kind please bring it. Some instruments will be provided.

Fees:
$80; $72 current SFZC members; $64 limited income. Fee includes organic vegetarian lunch from Greens Restaurant. Some scholarships are available; see About Registration, Scholarships, and Cancellations. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Dr. Zenju Earthlyn Manuel
Dr. Zenju Earthlyn Manuel, author, visual artist, drummer, and Zen Buddhist priest, lives in Oakland, CA where she teaches at East Bay Meditation Center and leads a small practice group in her home. She was ordained by Blanche Hartman and her priest training is being guided by Abbess Kiku Christina Lehnherr. Zenju was shuso/head student for the Fall 2012 Practice Period at City Center, which is being led by the Abbess.
